VOICE THERAPY
Therapy is conducted 1-5 times per week for 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions depending on each client’s needs. North Shore Center for Speech, Language & Swallowing Disorders provides comprehensive evaluations and evidenced-based treatments for voice disorders which may consist of vocal analysis using Visi-pitch along with additional clinical testing. Intervention for a voice disorder can include voice therapy in conjunction with medical intervention.
Voice therapy and treatment are tailored to meet the needs of each client in an effort to achieve the highest level of vocal function/restoration. Therapy may include:
• A variety of augmentative devices
• Electrolarynx for patients with Laryngectomy
• Lee Silverman voice treatment (LSVT)
• Passy Muir speaking valve for patients with tracheostomies
• Patient and family education
• Resonance training
• Respiratory/pronator exercises
• Training and instruction on eliminating vocally abusive behaviors
• Visual and auditory feedback using visi-pitch
• Vocal function exercises
• Voice amplification systems
